He makes me crazy!

I thought I'd sit down with the hero of my first book of my FBS. He wasn't much help. For some reason he's taken an aversion to my heroine, Kelly. Here's how it went.

Me: What's the problem, Sloane? I'm here for you.
Sloane: I don't like her.
M: Um...why specifically?
S (rolls eyes): She shrieks.
M: She's supposed to! It's her freaking job!
S: Besides. (he shrugs) I think she's screwing around with Matt.
M: You can't always believe what you hear.
S: I've seen them together. (I notice his jaw is clenched. Interesting.)
M: It's her job. Can you get over that for just one second? What else?
S: She doesn't even know my name. (he paused for a second) And she's rude.
M (Ah. This I can work with.): She's about to become very important to your job. And she's not rude. You've caught her on two bad days.
S: Whatever. (another shrug) I know her type.
M (In extremely irritated voice): Oh really? And what's her type?
S: Conceited. Shallow. Irritating.
M: Things aren't always what they seem.
S: And she shrieks.
M: Gaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

I love it! Glad to know I'm not the only one with recalcitrant heroes!

What's her job? Screamer in a Fun House?

One of my pals works for the Edinburgh Haunted Walks. She was a screamer for a wee while until she scared the poop out of this feller and he took a swing at her. she now does the more benign moaning zombie act.

All sounds very interesting though!
