All right. I'll admit it. I think of this as a necessary evil. I look at all those perky, pony-tailed chicks headed to the gym, and I want to do someone bodily harm. Them first. LOL
Then me.
Once upon a time, I used to exercise every day. Unfortunately, I've fallen out of the habit. And now I'm trying to pick it up again. Okay. Okay. I NEED to pick it up again. I have chairbutt. You know...when your cheeks are in a chair at least eight hours of the day, and they've taken to spreading out along the chair. *shaking head sadly* NOT a pretty sight.
So. I've taken up Tae Bo again. I enjoy it. And now, I must make myself do it. Ironically, I always feel better after I do. Sick, isn't it?
I've tried Denise Austin. I would tape her every morning for an hour on TV. Then when I got up, I would do it. That lasted for about two months. I refuse to do Richard Simmons. I just can't. Sorry. On a talk show, he works for me. Watching him do "the pony" doesn't. I've never tried Kathy Smith. But I've gone back to Tae Bo because it really feels like I'm doing something.
I still need to meditate. (My mind needs a little something, too.)
But my questions are these: Do you exercise? How do you find the time? What exercise do you do? How often? Do you use free weights? (I use 6 lb. weights) Do your kids do them with you? (My oldest does both with me) Do you have some type of exercise buddy?
Looking forward to the info.

I enrolled myself in a figure skating class because I get bored with straight aerobics or exercise. I like to learn new skills. That worked great and I loved it...but then the babies came along and it was just too hard. I got to a point where if I wanted to improve, I would have to start doing some serious training. I wasn't willing to go that route--I like recreational fun, not competitive skating.
I love TaeBo! I used to work for a minimum of an hour a day every day then it slowly dwindled. I'm trying to do better. I'm up to about 4 times a week now.
Michelle: WOW! I envy you. Ice skating, huh? I did that once. I have weak ankles and knees. But man, it's beautiful to watch.
Teresa: That is awesome! Which tape(s) do you use? I use the Cardio Circuit 1.
Kel: Um...does it require me to bend myself into impossible shapes? I'm not saying nay, I'm just wondering how much naproxen I should have on hand.

I have a Tae Bo tape but I've never used it. I've just started up my jogging routine again and it feels good!
Suzanne: I would love to jog, but my knees are in poor shape. I bet there are all kinds of pretty spots around your house.
Getting in shape for Reno? *grinning*

I used to exercise every day. I did cardio and then lifted weights. I went from weighting 136 to 113 and lost 15% body fat. I was one-lean-mean, hot-babe machine. *lol* But with my new job, I've got absolutely no time to workout. I get out at 6:00 pm and by the time I get home I'm too tired to move a muscle. *sighs*
Exercise. I vaguely remember what that is....
I walk on the treadmill we bought for myself AND the hubby. Someone has to get our money's worth. ;) I've been able to fit it in this summer, but it makes us have a late start to the whole day. PITA. But you're right...necessary. The only good part is the music on my iPod.
I. Hate. Organized. Exercise. But I'll hike or ski or something fun!
Nancy: If you find where they're selling some motivation...let a girl know. *grinning*
Silma: WOW! Sounds like you really got into it. Do you feel different now that you don't have as much time as before?
Tori: Any more, it and I are nodding acquaintances at best.
Amy: Do you do miles or minutes? And how much?
Jill: You should get your exercise running from bears. *laughing* Nature gives you a run for your money.

I go to the gym. I do between 30-45 mins. on the elliptical machine or the crossrobics. I do this about 3 times a week. I was also doing free weights and the weight machines. I was up to 8lbs for some exercises and 10lbs. for others. The weight machines are a lot more. I also do 225 sit ups. I quit doing the weights for now because I have the bulk. I need to burn off the fat and work on definition.
I do not use a work out buddy or anything like that. I like to do it on my own. "Entertainment Weekly" is a godsend for working out on the aerobic machines.
Crystal, to answer your question, I do minutes. 25 or so. Which usually equates to about 1.75 miles. Not a lot, but still hell. ;)
Rene: I bow down to your fitness self. *bowing* I am in AWE of that and would love to be able to say the same.
Amy: You are doing good. The rumor is that around 30 minutes or so a day is enough. Sounds like you've got it covered.
