Time off

I took this weekend off from blogging. I think I'm going to start doing that from now on. It was a nice little break for myself.
I've been on the computer for hours on end strengthening my case for the School Board again. Let me just ask you this:
Would you like it if you're fourth grader had eight different classes with six different teachers? If you were totally ignored and not asked at all about any of it?
I'm pissed.

Onto better news. I received my ARC for Perfect Timing back today. I'm now sending it out for reviews and such. Busy. Busy. Busy. That one is due out in February.
I really need to focus on finishing the stories I have before me right now. I was going to go back to the school superintendent's tomorrow, but I think I'll go back Monday when I head to town for my doctor's checkup.

It's a windy sonofagun here. The wind has shifted to the north. It was 95 degrees today. Tomorrow it's going to be 73. WOO! I'm so excited! No air conditioner! Just nice, cool, fall weather. *sigh* I'm so ready.

I have three girls' birthdays in October. Pray for me.
Grins*

Have they told you why the grammar school is switching teachers like a HS?

Kinda bizarre.

Good Luck!

I've been away from blog hopping a lot lately. Not on purpose really, I just haven't had that much time to do it all. Need more hours in the day. And ARC's and reviews. I must figure out how all that works before my book comes out. Adding that to my list of things to do.

Geez. Back in the Dark Ages when I was in the 4th grade, I only had one teacher. Go figure.

Wow, sound like they're trying to make the kids grow up too soon again. Man. Good luck figuring it all out!

It's so funny how you call 73 degrees "nice, cool, Fall weather." when that's the peak of Summer for us. We're in the 50's and enjoying the windy, last of Katrina winds...or is it Rita? I don't know...lots a roof tile though!

Glad to hear you're giving yourself a break.

And no way in Hell would I want my 4th grader bounced from class to class. Two others maybe but not six different teachers. It's way too much for their little heads to take.

What in the world is your school board thinking? It's the opposite at my kids' school. My son had the same teacher from 1st through third and he will have the same teacher from 4th through 5th.

I find that the more I blog, the more I write. If I'm not blogging, it means I'm in a bad mood.

It is supposed to hit the high 90's today and that is because of the wind. I'm ready for cool weather.

Back in the 70's (darn, I'm old!), each of my classes had a teacher. So yes, I had 6 classes and therefore 6 teachers. Did it bother me? No. Did it affect my grade? No. I knew which teacher was for what. Mrs. Acosta was for English, Mrs. Perazza for Spanish, Mrs. Ortiz for Math, and so forth.

I don't think the problem is having so many teachers. The problem is when a teacher has too many students in a classroom. I remember having 42 students in just one group. How the HECK did they expect me to help and teach EVERY S-I-N-G-L-E kid? I'm not a miracle worker, darn it! Any educator can tell you that more than 20 students in a classroom is too many.

Besides, let's get a real for a minute. Universities have become business, and they sell their products - education. However, in order to compete with all these junior colleges and other institutions that promise "quickies" (a quick degree) more and more universities are lowering their standards. Do you know how many times I've been asked to "pass" a students who's failing my English class? If I had a dime for everytime that happened, I'll have enough money to put new tiles in my house's 3 bathrooms!
